*IMHA MOVES TO ENSURE AFOR NZEREM/ OBENETTI NKWODIOKA/IKPEM ROAD IN EHIME MBANO IS REHABILITATED*

In a bid to ensure most of  the rural roads benefit from the ongoing massive Infrastructural revolution going on in the state, with quality projects and being undertaken in the three Senatorial Zones, by the 3R Administration of His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma, the Imo State House Of Assembly has moved to ensure one of the rural roads, AFOR NZEREM/ OBENETTI NKWODIOKAIKPEM ROAD in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area is rehabilitated.
This follows a motion moved by the Deputy Speaker, Rt Honourable Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, member representing Nwangele State Constituency, during plenary on Wednesday.
The Motion is titled “MOTION TO URGE HIS EXCELLENCY, DISTINGUISHED SENATOR HOPE UZODIMMA, GOVERNOR OF IMO STATE TO INCLUDE THE AFOR NZEREM/OBENETTI NKWODIOKA/IKPEM ROAD IN EHIME MBANO LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN THE 2023 BUDGET ESTIMATES, AS ONE OF THE ROADS TO RECEIVE ATTENTION NEXT YEAR”.
Discussing the Motion,  Rt Honourable Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu explained that  there are Schools, Markets,  Public and Private buildings on it, but the dilabilitated   nature of the road has made it impossible  for those facilities to function optimally. He noted that though two kilometer roads are presently being done in each of the 27 LGAs, there is urgent need to include the AFOR NZEREM/OBENETTI NKWODIOKA/IKPEM ROAD in the 2023 Budget, and have it  rehabilitated.
Rt Honourable Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu therefore prayed the House to urge His Excellency The Governor to include the road  in the 2023 budget estimates.
Rt Honourable Iwuanyanwu expressed confidence that the road,  when completed, would bring accelerated development to the area, and would join  many other link  roads, bearing in mind how the people of Imo State and Neighboring States are presently enjoying the solidly constructed Owerri/Orlu and Owerri/Okigwe roads by the Hope Uzodimma Administration.
Almost all the Honourable Members present at Plenary spoke in favour of the Motion.  Hon Michael Crown Onyemaechi, member representing Obowo State Constituency, described himself as a victim of the bad nature of road, arguing that if the road was   done, it would interconnect to many other roads.
Honourable Chief Eddy Obinna, member representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency, expressed concern over  the condition  of the road, stating that not long ago, he and other House members  drove past the road (to a function), and observed  the bad state of disrepair, which has caused the people in the area great hardship and inconvenience.
In his contribution, Honourable Barrister Dominic Ezerioha, member representing Oru-west State Constituency  said that His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma should be persuaded to include the road in the 2023 budget.
Having listened to the contribution of members,  the Speaker, Rt Honourable Barrister Anthony Emeka Nduka, appreciated  the  Deputy Speaker, Rt Honourable Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, for sponsoring the motion, and distinguished Honourable Members, for supporting it. However, Rt Honourable Nduka noted that the first step was to pass the Motion, while the second step would be to capture the said road in the 2023 budget, and finally, have it rehabilitated.
When the Speaker put it to vote, it was unanimously adopted, with no dissenting voice. The Motion, having been passed, the Clerk was directed to convey the resolution of the House to His Excellency The Governor.
Earlier, “the Motion to urge His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma to urge relevant Agencies to do Palliative and Extensive work on the bad spots on Owerri/Onitsha road, which is in a state  of disrepair, was moved and adopted.
Also earlier, Professor Johncliff Chike Nwadike was screened and confirmed  by the House, as a Commissioner nominee,  following a letter written by His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma.
The House Adjourned Sitting to  Tuesday, 15th November, 2022.
