A Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Joseph Obada, has advised Christians to put more effort in personal devotions, meditation and reflection with God.
Obada, the Associate Priest of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Nyanya, Abuja, who gave the advice at a Holy mass on Sunday, said with prayers, people would be better placed to hear God’s message.
“We need to put more effort in our prayers to qualify as a sheep in the Lord’s vineyard and enter into God’s kingdom,” he said.
According to him, most Christians with a lukewarm attitude when it comes to prayer to God, need to make more efforts in their relationship with God.
“When one reads the Bible, it is a key to enter into the kingdom of God; people need to cultivate the habit of reading the book of God constantly,” he said.
Obada said the best investment for the kingdom of God was to read the holy bible, listen to God, pray to be able to understand God’s message.
He said: “God speaks to the mind and so Christians should pay more attention to their hearts while praying in a quiet place.
Obada, who took his sermon from the book of John 10: 27-28, said: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
“And I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
He called on Christians to always mediate on the word of God to be able to worship Him properly.
“God promises that we can gain wisdom and understanding when we listen to Him. To listen to God, we must first be open and willing to receive His word,” he said.
