Deployment Of IT Will Curb Financial Crimes – Stakeholders

Stakeholders have called for effective use of information technology (IT) by financial institutions to curb financial crimes in the country.

The call was made during the unveiling of SMARTSEE, an integrated financial solutions product, under the chairmanship of the minister of science, technology and innovation, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu.

In the wake of numerous financial crimes in the country, stakeholders said it is necessary that an innovative solution is provided to curb such crimes, using artificial intelligence.

The chairman of UNICCON Group of Companies, Mr Chucks Ekwueme said SMARTSEE provides a risk-based approach in monitoring transactions for risk assessment, while handling financial related crimes mitigation needs.

With artificial intelligence the Nigerian economic sector can improve thereby bridging the gap in artificial intelligence, between Nigeria and the developed countries.

Other stakeholders, such as representatives from the CBN, and businessmen said the innovation will be of great help in improving the business environment of the country
